Should I purchase a mat board? (Back to top)
Yes. The mat board is what you mount your page on to. The acid-free, lignin-free mat can be used multiple times if you use photo corners instead of double-sided tape.
Are mat boards available in any other colors? (Back to top)
We currently offer white, however, if you would like to use a color, consider visiting a custom frame shop or any Kraft store that sells acid-free mat board and get a 15” x 15” in a different color.
Can I use photo corners instead of double-sided tape? (Back to top)
Yes, large photo corners may be used instead of double-sided tape, especially if you want to update the pages in the frame. If you do use photo corners, one to consider is the weight of the page and how far to the corner your embellishments come.
Can I use any double-sided tape? (Back to top)
Yes, just make sure that it is acid-free.
Are the photo corners acid free? (Back to top)
Check the box. Most are acid-free. The box will indicate this.
Can I interchange the pictures? (Back to top)
There are two options:
1) You can interchange the pictures if you use photo corners. Photo corners come in different sizes and large ones (especially if there are heavy embellishments) should be used.
2) the other option, if you've used double sided tape, is to simply change the mat board with a new one. You can order a new one and we'll ship it out right away.
Is putting Kraft paper on the back of the frame important? (Back to top)
Closing up the back of the frame with paper helps to keep out the dust (and spiders that eventually make their way in!). If you dust often, make sure to take down the frame and dust the back.
Does it matter what type of Kraft paper I use? (Back to top)
Any Kraft paper is fine. You don’t have to be concerned with it being acid-free because it is not in direct contact with your page. You have the mat board and backing board (both are acid-free) that provide protection.
Why is UV so important? (Back to top)
UV is important because it protects the scrapbook page from fading. It blocks out at least 98% of ultraviolet rays which causes a breakdown whenever it comes in contact with organic materials, bleaching papers and fading pictures. Once damage from UV light has occurred, it can never be reversed.
What can I use to clean the Plexiglas? (Back to top)
Never use harsh abrasive materials on acrylic, as they will scratch the surface. There are commercial products available that clean acrylic, however a paper towel and warm soapy water (non-detergent) work just as well.
How do I paint the frames? (Back to top)
The frames in the "Le Cirque" line can be painted before assembling. Here's how:
- Spray paint a primer on the frame - Krylon is a popular brand that can be found in most arts and crafts stores.
- Paint two coats of color using acrylic paint. Any brand will do. Make sure first coat is completely dry before applying second coat.
- When frame is completely dry, finish off with a clear spray coat sealer.
